To that end, we are looking for articles from public information officers that can help further this mission. If you are interested in submitting an article, please follow these guidelines:
- Make sure it is your own original work: We want to hear what you have to say, not what someone else has already said about the topic.
- Keep it on target. This is a blog that appeals to emergency public information officers. The blog that deals with souped up race cars is down the hall to the left.
- Be yourself: This isn't a venue for academic papers. We want to read in your own voice what works, what doesn't and what makes you go hmmm ... Make it relevant and engaging.
- Be succinct: Attention spans aren't what they used to be. Please be sure your article doesn't exceed 1,200 words, or we will forward it to a publishing house on your behalf. A good count to shoot for would be between 500 - 800 words.
- Be illustrative: A picture is worth a thousand words, so be sure to submit appropriate photos to help tell your story. We will also accept graphs and charts to tell a story. Just remember, we aren't all statisticians. K.I.S.S.
- Proofread. We have to put this out there. Remember, most programs come complete with a spell checker - and it's FREE to use!
Forward all inquiries to the attention of Tom Iovino at tkiovino@gmail.com, and we'll be in touch!
